I’m not particularly experienced doing apologetics with young primary school children. But I have enjoyed the challenge and clarity these kinds of questions and answers bring (and my own children – and their awesome Christian children books – have been a great for learning and practice!)
Here are three recent questions and rapid-fire answers:
How did God become God?
That’s a great question and the short answer is: He didn’t become God because He’s always been God!
Everything we know in our universe had a beginning. Puppies, people, planets – but not God. That’s because He’s not another creature in the universe, He’s the Creator of the universe.
That means there was never a time when God wasn’t. He didn’t have to grow up or level up or get promoted because He is the One who made everything else grow and live!
Think of it like this: every story has an author, but the author was there before the story began. Well, God is like the Author of everything. He’s always been there, always loving, always good.
And that’s really good news, because it means the One who made you will never stop being God and never stop being good.
Where is God?
God is everywhere, but He’s not everything. You can’t see Him the way you see your shoes, but He’s closer than your shoes are to your feet.
The Bible says, “He is not far from any of us…” That means when you’re at home, God is there. When you’re at school, God is there. When you’re scared at night, God is right beside you.
God fills the biggest galaxies and still has room to sit beside you. When you say a pray, you can even whisper it and God will hear, because God is everywhere.
Are video games and tech super bad for Christians?
Let me ask you this: is a hammer bad? The answer is “No… not necessarily.” You could use a hammer to build a house or to hurt someone. It all depends on what you do with it!
It’s the same when it comes to video games and technology. They aren’t necessarily bad, it all depends on what they’re being used for.
The Bible says, “Whatever you do, do it for the glory of God”. So the question isn’t “Is tech evil?” but “Does this help me love God and love people?”
Video games can be fun, but if they make you angry, disobedient, greedy, or forget other people, that’s when it’s probably time to take a break.
