Something I’m appreciating more and more as I both learn and teach theology is how modern we’ve become in the way we treat truth – like it’s something you can understand without being changed by.
We’ve inherited a habit of pulling apart what God has joined together: doctrine and discipleship, belief and life, truth and love.
But biblically, truth is never just information to master, it’s a reality to inhabit.
Doctrine isn’t a diagram; it’s a dwelling. Not a topic to file away, but a world to live inside – together.
Perhaps that’s why Scripture doesn’t simply hand us tidy definitions. God isn’t only telling us what’s true, He’s forming a people who can live truthfully.
The goal isn’t accurate explanation from a distance. The goal is faithful dwelling – in time and space, in relationships, in habits, in loves.
God doesn’t just give answers; He makes a people.
